FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS HISTORY EDUCATORS RESEARCH NETWORK’s [HEIRNET]. 14th ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
31st. Aug 2nd September 2017
City University Dublin, IRELAND
Responding to the current multiple crises of climate change, global conflict, mass migration and rising nationalism, the HEIRNET 2017 conference theme, History Education in Challenging Times: Meeting ‘The Other’ across Time and Space, explores how History Education focuses upon these challenges, providing space for research-based examinations of practice & of historical learning and for critical discourse on policy, curriculum and the politics of History Education.
Given Ireland’s recent history of conflict and the ongoing focus on multiple narratives, contested histories and reconciliation, Dublin provides an ideal location for addressing the conference theme.
A group of delegates can host a session on a theme or topic of its own choice. This innovation has proved a great success at the last two HEIRNET conferences.
Attached please find the conference circular that lists the conference’s 10 themes, each with from 5-13 topics and three-fold flyer containing essential information. Please note two new themes in response to delegates' feedback:
1. The History of History Education
2. Practitioner Research: The Integration of Theory and Practice - Papers and Workshops
